Why Parrs selected the Travel-Joy brand when there are so many other trucks on the market that look the same, do the same job and are cheaper?
While it is never my intention to be uncompetitive on price, I seem to have consistently found myself in the position of selecting the highest priced and highest quality brands to put in Parrs’ product portfolio; We have done it with Expresso, the best aluminium sack trucks in the world, Cordes, in our view the finest trollies in the world, Ravendo, the best steel hand trucks you can buy, Cargomaster, the German powered stair climber, and with our own plastic Kickstep, made here in The Midlands for the UK’s top Supermarkets.
The reason I select these brands is because, as people who know me well will tell you, I am very lazy. I like to distribute a product and never worry about getting a phone call or email from a customer telling me that the truck broke after a couple of weeks of use. We don’t have anyone who handles customer complaints at Parrs and I don’t want to employ anyone to do it, so I guess I would have to do it if we got any; therefore I consciously select products that I know we won’t get any complaints about.
And so, to Travel-joy. The folding hand truck market is awash with cheap products and all the trucks look pretty much the same and they all do a similar job. But why would you buy a more expensive folding aluminium sack truck? Maybe the answer lies in the question, Why is the Traveljoy product more expensive? The answer is then obvious, the components are of higher quality, the build quality is better, the product testing is more vigorous, and the raw materials have greater integrity.
Who cares? I hear you say, it’s just a sack truck. The funny thing about sack trucks is that they are a relatively cheap product used for transporting expensive, fragile, and valuable things. And they are expected to do their job day after day, month after month and year after year. And in places such as Germany and the Scandinavian Countries, that’s exactly what their trucks do. However, we in the UK seem to think that we should just buy the cheapest truck and somehow, everything will be alright.
