PARRS recommend that no less that 5 linear metres of matting is required to remove dirt and moisture effectively, allowing each foot to make contact at least four times.
This can be divided into 4 zones;
Zone 1: Removal of heavy debris. 40% of dirt and moisture is removed in the first 1.5mt. Ideally, this should be placed outside of the doorway.
Zone 2: Fine debris and moisture is simultaneously scraped away and wiped off shoes. 20% is removed in this zone.
Zone 3: Additional wiping mats complete the drying process within the 5 metres.
