Richard started at Parrs in September 1992 and has been Managing Director since 1994. Since that time he has seen his hairline retreat backwards and has tried to compensate by growing more on his face.
Richard enjoys his job as he can participate in all areas of the business. He gets heavily involved in a specific area, causes as much turmoil as possible and then moves on, thinking he has done a great job. Meanwhile the staff are left to pick up the pieces and sort out the considerable devastation left by his intervention.
Away from work, Richard gets taken for long walks by his dogs and enjoys Yoga. He has three daughters who provide a significantly greater management challenge than Parrs.
Peter joined the company many, many years ago and one of his roles is Contract Management. These play a very important part of our business and Peter has a wealth of experience in this area, managing accounts across various business sectors. These include retail, local councils and several blue chip companies.
He has recently worked with Birmingham City Council to contact manage the installation of Cycle Shelters across four hospitals.
Peter is currently working with the like of Halfords, Lyreco, PDSA and Domino's to name but a few.
Outside work Peter enjoys running, fishing, following his local football team and listening to music.
Having already known the Marketing team for many years before joining Parrs, Rebecca knew what she was letting herself in for.
Working as Account Manager in the packaging and containers industry for over 17 years she has become a professional multi-tasker, giving plate spinners a run for their money.
She believes building relationships with customers and managing their expectations is key to having a successful working partnership.
In her spare time, she loves attending gigs, cake decorating and travelling. Her goal is a different destination every year, the world is a big beautiful place, live it.
Emma joined our Customer Service Team in July 2003 and works closely with the retail and removals sector which includes customers such as Selfridges, Lidl, Cineworld and Pickfords. Emma specialises in Expresso Sack Trucks and is more than happy to discuss these with you or any queries that you have.
Emma has a two-year-old son so she doesn't get much time to herself however when she does, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and reading.
Kristel is our youngest member of the Customer Services team, she brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge working with large retailers. Previously a Team Manager for a large telecommunications company, she has a drive for customer satisfaction and meeting her KPI’s. She takes pride in all she does and is a happy, vivacious person with an infectious personality.
In her spare time she is mainly taking care of her young son, however when she can steal a moment to herself (which is very rare) she enjoys baking and watching TV Shows about criminal cases and murder/forensic investigations. (Thinks she is the next Miss Marple!)
Rory has joined our Customer Services team with an Account Management background. He prides himself on getting it right first time and putting the customer top of his priorities, constantly striving to learn more about products to ensure the customer gets what they need to fit their requirements.
Away from work Rory enjoys watching Liverpool FC play (if only we had known before we employed him!) and going to the gym, alongside enjoying time with his two sons, although we believe they send him out to work to give them a rest.
Another Parrs veteran, Nicky joined Parrs way back in 1992 at the tender age of 19 and her first job role was Receptionist/ Telephonist/Typist. Nicky quickly broadened her skill base by becoming a member of the Customer Service Team and for the last 15 years Nicky has held a role in marketing.
Nicky obviously loves Parrs (let’s face it, she’s been here forever!) She is the creative arm of the team, she is responsible for designing our web content, email campaigns, leaflets and catalogue and anything else that crops up…and it regularly does!
She’s also involved in pretty much everything marketing related, from devising promotions and charity days to organising exhibition stands and ensuring brand continuity.
Nicky has a young son and like many working mums, spare time is in short supply, however, she loves to shop, enjoys socialising with friends and is partial to sampling new cocktails. She is also a self-confessed chocaholic!
Emma has been a member of the Marketing Team for so long we forget that she actually began life at Parrs as a Customer Service Clerk back in 2003.
After two years of keeping customers sweet, Emma was given the opportunity of a new challenge with the role of e-commerce Co-ordinator. Today, Emma is responsible for the overall delivery of the strategic, operational and financial effectiveness of Parrs website along with all other digital communications.
Emma loves spending time with her two young daughters, clothes shopping, eating healthily and keeping fit.
Julie joined Parrs in August 2000 as a member of the Sales Team, all fresh faced and very enthusiastic. She came straight from Sixth Form College and saw this as a great opportunity to introduce herself to the working world and to understand Parrs from the customer perspective.
From 2002 she took on a purchasing role dealing with products, suppliers and purchasing stock. In 2004 she progressed to Product Manager within the Marketing Team which is where she is today.
Julie’s role is to find the right product with the right quality and price for our customers. She is always on the lookout for new and innovative products, this can be challenging at times but very rewarding when she gets it right.
In her spare time Julie enjoys spending time with her family, socialising with friends and dancing the night away. She also loves shopping…what girl doesn’t like a new handbag once in a while!
Jo is the newbie of the bunch, joining the Marketing Team as our SEO Specialist in September 2018. Having previously worked for the Camping and Caravanning Club she is a well-rounded digital marketer with an in-depth knowledge of SEO, Jo has also gained a wealth of experience through in-house, freelance and agency work, so she definitely knows her stuff.
In her spare time, she even set up her own eCommerce website, which she successfully ran for 5 years before selling it to go off on her travels of Australia.
Scott joined Parrs in 1992 and has run the warehouse for over 20 years.
Making sure that everything we send out and is well packed and on time rests with Scott. He is also responsible for making sure that the warehouse runs smoothly. We import a number of products and Scott has to make sure that everything that comes into our large warehouse is inspected and stored efficiently.
Outside work Scott is an action man (not literally!). He loves climbing up sheer cliffs and then cycling back down the other side on his mountain bike. He lives just round the corner from Parrs, although his action-filled life does not prevent him from driving 500 yards to work.
Emma joined Parrs in January 2011. Previously she worked for Lifting Technology; a manual handling company run by the bosses’ cousin!
Emma’s job is to balance the books and deal with both sales and purchase ledger. Although accounts can be labelled as a personality lacking role… Emma disagrees and very much enjoys the versatility of the position and even though it is sometimes challenging, it can be a very rewarding role when both suppliers and customers alike are looked after and are happy!
Emma has a young son and outside work they like to get out and enjoy a good full day out preferably in the sunshine. She enjoys a good shopping day with friends and baffles people with her love of ale!
