Established in the late 1800s in the heart of London’s East End, W.A Hudson was originally a distributor of cornice poles and curtain fittings. Nearly 100 years later in 1967, they changed direction and started to explore the education sector. Under their new name GRATNELLS, they devised a storage system for science laboratories within schools. The system allowed trays and shelves to be fitted within a slotted square tube frame.
By 1985 British schools were now standardizing their furniture sizes and a smaller plastic tray was needed. With stiff competition, GRATNELLS also needed to be able to manufacture its own trays. With no experience in plastics manufacture, they took a massive risk and investment and purchased an injection moulding machine. This enabled the introduction of the smaller tray which paved the way to GRATNELLS position as leading school tray manufacturer.
Trays can be transported along with their contents from the store to the classroom and back again with ease. GRATNELLS Tray Trolleys will hold any of the four tray sizes in any combination required. There’s also a static Tray Rack if mobility is not required.
PARRS is proud to be a distributor of GRATNELLS: manufacture of the world’s best-selling tray storage systems.
